The sales tax target is based on the City's sales tax budget. 

The target and status for this measure reflects the sales tax collections in the City of Missouri City. Sales tax collections will be reported on a quarterly basis. 

Sales tax is generated by the sale of taxable goods by sellers within the City, or remote sellers (i.e., online sellers) who are required to collect and submit sales tax to the Texas Comptroller’s office.

*Figures are received from the Comptroller approximately  2 months after the close of the reporting period. Data will reflect the most recent quarter as soon as the information is available.*

Sales tax collections are a barometer of economic health, and help the City judge the economic climate going into the next budget year
